As part of our Building Memory series, John Branston will lead a short walk around Locksbrook Cemetery, showing how – on a small scale – it embodies many of the concepts that came to define the imagination of the cemetery in the Victorian era. It will cover the origin, layout and setting of the cemetery, as well as notable burials and pointers to aspects of social history from the period. Nearly all walking will be on made paths within the cemetery.
John is Director of The Research Partnership in Bath. He has previously given well-received talks on Bath’s WW1 memorials, Roman Roads and historic aerial photographs of the city.
Tickets £8 online or on the day.
Meet at the entrance to Locksbrook Cemetery, Upper Bristol Road, Lower Weston.
