Bring your primary school to the Museum of Bath Architecture – find out how our city grew and discover the trade secrets of the architects and craftsmen who designed and built it. Choose from three KS1 workshops and three KS2 workshops:

KS1 workshops last 2 hours and cost £4.25 per student (adults free) including free admission to the collection:

The Story of Bath – This highly interactive 2 hour workshop weaves storytelling and objects together, dramatically bringing to life the founding and building of a World Heritage Site. Supports the KS1 History and English curriculum.

Decorative Designs – Inspired by the classical designs of the Georgian period, students will create their own decorative print-work. This 2 hour workshop also includes an opportunity to discover the unique objects of the Museum of Bath Architecture including the model of Bath. Supports the KS1 History, Art and Design curriculum.

Classical Clay – The architecture of antiquity was a huge influence of the builders of eighteenth century Bath. During this 2 hour workshop students will learn about the classical orders of architecture and create their own columns out of air-drying clay. Supports the KS1 History, Art and Design curriculum.

KS2 workshops last 2½ hours and cost £5.00 per student (adults free) including free admission to the collection:

How Bath was Built – This 2.5 hour workshop offers a detailed introduction to how Bath was transformed in the eighteenth century. The workshop features short taught sessions interspersed with hands-on activities featuring the objects of the Museum of Bath Architecture. Students will be able to see authentic tools being demonstrated, learn first hand from historic maps and gain a unique perspective on the topography of the city by exploring our scale model of Bath. Supports the KS2 History curriculum.

Patterns and Prints – Inspired by the classical designs of the Georgian period, students will design and create their own printed wallpaper. This 2.5 hour workshop also includes an opportunity to discover the unique objects of the Museum of Bath Architecture including the model of Bath. Supports the KS2 History, Art and Design curriculum.
