Community Engagement

We believe that engaging with museums can have a positive and profound impact on people’s lives. We are committed to finding ways to connect more deeply with as wide a range of people as possible. Working in partnership with local communities and other cultural providers we seek to engage meaningfully through a wide range of creative projects.

Every year we welcome a variety of community groups to the Museum of Bath Architecture. In 2019 we collaborated with a variety of them, inviting them to respond to the inspiring stories told at each of our museums through the use of artforms including photography and mixed media. The ‘Taking on History’ exhibition is currently on display at the Museum of Bath Architecture until 24 November 2019. It showcases work by older people from Age UK (Bath & North East Somerset), local families and schoolchildren, and mental health support groups such as @FreshArt.

Previous community engagement projects at the Museum of Bath Architecture include the IMAGE group, a peer led museums art group, designing and producing a pair of silk banners inspired by the museum’s collections, and members from Age UK Bath and from the Soroptimist International Bath joining with pupils from St Andrews School to explore Bath’s suffragette history during our six week Suffrage 100 project in 2018.

If you would like to bring your community group to visit the Museum of Bath Architecture, please contact the Learning & Engagement team, on 01225 338727, or email pandrews@bptrust.org.uk to discuss the options.
