Higher & Continuing Education

At the Museum of Bath Architecture we believe that learning never ends and we are proud to provide both formal and informal learning opportunities for adults of all ages.

We work closely with our local higher education partners to provide valuable hands on learning experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of subjects. In recent years students of history, heritage, drama and film have been supported by university and museum staff to deliver real life projects for the museum and its visitors. Through such projects, or work placements, students gain skills, confidence and experience to support future career choices.

The museum has particularly strong links with the University of Bath’s Department of Architecture & Civil Engineering. The museum curator, Dr Amy Frost, is a part-time Teaching Fellow in the department and all architecture students visit the museum during their studies. Dr Frost also runs regular architecture walking tours of the city plus an Introduction to British Architecture course which is open to all – please see our events page for details of our upcoming talks, tours and courses.

For the last three years we have also hosted Open Palace Programme participants at our museums. This programme has been developed by a group of significant heritage and education organisations in the UK committed to providing a first class, first-hand experience of palaces and houses across the UK for international students and emergent professionals in the heritage field.

We also support lifelong learning and regularly welcome visits from a variety of specialist interest and community groups. We can provide introductory talks to complement your group’s visit to the museum – please read our group visit leaflet for more details or contact our Learning & Engagement Officer, Polly Andrews, on 01225 338727 or email pandrews@bptrust.org to enquire about talks.

Today we're looking at maintaining roofs for #NationalMaintenanceWeek 🏠✨

Water is most likely to enter through the roof, so putting right any problems here should be a priority before winter sets in...
