Bath Architectural Photographer of the Year

Saturday 8 February – Sunday 21 June 2020

On display are the winners and runners-up in our 2019 competition: Architectural Photographer of the Year. The categories are:

1. Architecture of Entertainment

From ancient amphitheatres to the multiplex cinemas of today architects have been designing entertainment spaces for thousands of years. The challenge is for photographers to capture images of architecture, interior or exterior, that have an entertainment theme – be it the Sydney Opera House or the Bath Theatre Royal.

2. Bath: After the Georgians

Most people who come to visit Bath are here to see the Georgian city. However, as the city has expanded and developed over the years so too has its architecture. Even within the centre you can find the odd 1960s Brutalist building and as you travel further out you find some great examples of Victorian and Edwardian styles. What can you find? What has taken your eye?

3. Junior Architectural Photographer of the Year

Open to photographers under the age of 19. We want to see what architecture inspires you.  Do you prefer old buildings or ultra-modern one? What’s the coolest building you’ve seen?

Empty Seats: the unbuilt Concert Halls of Bath

Saturday 27 June – Sunday 29 November 2020

From Assembly Rooms to Opera Houses, Bath has a long history of designing concert halls that were never built.  This year we reveal the music that was never heard in the city because of the architecture that never happened
